Colorado River Walkers

March 9, 2026 Meeting Minutes

President Carol O called the March 2026 meeting of the Colorado River Walkers to order at 6:10 pm on Monday, March 9, in the Central Market Cafe on North Lamar. Members present were Linda D., Stephanie K., Larry J., Carol O., Greg S., Wayne S., and Mary Z.

It was agreed that last month’s meeting minutes were available online and did not need to be read.

The treasurer’s report was $1,570.80 in total assets as of February 28.

Linda gave the YRE report for the month of February:

Historic Capital: 11

Lady Bird Lake: 6

Georgetown: 6

Cedar Park: 57

Round Rock: 8

Pflugerville: 4

Salado: 2

There were 94 total walkers. Income received from the YREs, excluding the 28 walkers on Feb 28th, was $277.00 and a coupon. The larger number of walkers was probably due to the Texas Trail Roundup, which brought more walkers to Central Texas.

We featured our Cedar Park YRE for the walk which our club hosted on Feb 28th. There were 28 walkers at the event, and there was some discussion about including these 28 walkers in the YRE report. Proceeds from the walk were included in the treasurer’s report: $112 in walk fees, plus $24 in sales and $18 in donations equals $154.

Terry S. represented our club at the TVA meeting in Fort Worth on March 7th and sent us a report on the meeting. At the meeting, the TVA leadership asked if the Colorado River Walkers would host the next TVA meeting and 3-day walking event, which will be November 13-15. There was a long discussion about the logistics and the feasibility of our club hosting the meeting and walks. One scenario is to have the meeting in Georgetown at a hotel. The three walks could possibly be our Round Rock YRE, our Georgetown YRE, and a traditional walk at Berry Springs Park and Preserve in Georgetown. No decision was made as to whether we will host it, or not.

For our next traditional walk on April 18, Carol O. proposed that we use the southern portion of the Violet Crown Trail. The members present agreed. Carol O. volunteered to be the trail master, since she has already researched the area and has been looking for a Start/Finish location for the walk.

The last topic of discussion was to ask our members for input on the best day of the week and time of day to have our club meetings, so as to allow for more attendance.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Zeitler and Stephanie Knight
