The Colorado River Walkers walking club is hosting a walk in Richard Moya Park this coming Saturday, September 28th. This is a beautiful park with shady trees and well developed walking trails. It is also the site of Moore’s Crossing Bridge, shown in the picture above.
Richard Moya Park is located at 10001 Burleson Rd, Austin, TX 78719. This is just south of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, so lots of planes fly overhead. The picture below was taken from the park.

Walkers may start the walk from 8:00 to 11:00 AM, and they should finish by 2:00 PM. This walk qualifies for 2 Special Programs: Par-For-The-Course and Walking With America’s Veterans.
The walk consists of two 5 km loops. One loop stays in the park. It traverses Moore’s Crossing Bridge, goes out to a spot along Burleson Rd that is directly under the flight path, and stays primarily on the cement walking trails in the park. Part of the trail is shown below.

The other 5 km loop crosses Burleson Road and goes into the Armed Forces Reserve Center to view a memorial to Marines who died in the Iraqi war. Below is a picture of the memorial.

Walkers on this loop also stop at Million Air Austin at the airport, a fixed-base operator for private flights. Our checkpoint is at this beautiful facility. Below is a painted longhorn sculpture at Million Air.

There are some great murals painted on the outsides of the buildings at Million Air. Here is a composite of them.

We hope you are able to make it out to the walk! For all the details, please see the flyer below.
There are multiple ways to get to the park, and the flyer just lists one of them. It is best to plug the address into your navigation system to find the best route on the day of the walk.
