Meeting Minutes September 2026

It’s still HOT out there, but for a break, we can picture ourselves on the beach at Cabo!

Colorado River Walkers

September 13, 2026 Meeting Minutes

The September meeting of the CRW at the Central Market Café was called to order by Terry S. at 3:05 pm. Members present were: Nellie A., Linda D., Carolyn D., Kathy F., Mike F., Larry J, Stephanie K, Carol O, Greg S., Terry S., and Mary Z. Larry moved and there was a unanimous vote to accept the August minutes as written. Carolyn gave the treasurer’s report and reported current checking account amount of $1368.95. Linda reported 1 YRE walker in August at Pflugerville.  There were also nine walkers at our Featured YRE on Labor Day at Pflugerville.

Stephanie is organizing the next traditional walk, scheduled for September 26 at McKinney Falls State. She distributed the workers’ walk sign-up sheet. The workers’ walk is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Sunday, September 20 at the Smith Visitor Center.  The park requires an entry fee or a pass.  Walkers may preregister for a day pass online at Texas Parks and Wildlife(https://tpwd.texas.gov/). There is a senior discount.  Stephanie will arrange with Mike for the equipment needed for the walk. Copies of the flyer were available.

Carolyn reported on the progress for the November 15 traditional walk at Berry Springs Park in Georgetown. She has designed a 10K trail that takes account of new parts of the park, and the 5K will be similar to the one used in 2022. Stephanie will be designing the flyer for November 13-15, the TVA meeting, to include the Berry Spring walk on Sunday, November 15.  A worker’s walk will be announced in October.

The Big Give, AVA’s annual fundraiser, will be online September 23-24 but checks may be sent to the AVA office until October 31.  Donations over $50 will be matched. The club voted to contribute $100 from the checking account, and Larry added $50 to that total.

The American Wanderer (Sep_TAW.pdf) contains a complimentary story about Carol helping a new walker at our June Lady Bird Lake walk.  There is also a story about the three-day TVA meeting.

At the October meeting we will discuss having an Opt Outside featured YRE on November 27.  The club is declining its invitation to Cedar Parktoberfest on September 26 and also the invitation from the Texas Psychological Association on November 14. Both of these dates conflict with events we have already scheduled.

Nellie reported enjoying the recent Boston AVA anniversary walk, and Greg reported attending the Mission Walk in San Antonio.

The meeting adjourned at 3:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Stephanie K.
