Colorado River Walkers
July 12, 2026, Meeting Minutes
The July 12 meeting of the CRW at the Central Market Café was called to order by Terry S. at 3:03 pm. Members present were: Linda D., Larry J, Stephanie K, Carol O, Elaine R., Greg S, and Terry S. Terry welcomed Elaine to the meeting.
Linda moved and both Stephanie and Greg seconded a motion to accept the May minutes as written. There was a written treasurer’s report that showed a current checking account amount of $1666.04, as of June 30. Linda gave the YRE report. We had 32 paid walkers for the Sunrise YRE on Lady Bird Lake, 6 walkers at the Historic Capitol walk, and 1 for Pflugerville.
We discussed the next traditional walk, scheduled for September 26. McKinney Falls State Park was selected, pending a check on its availability on that date. Stephanie will be checking with the park on availability. CRW previously walked there in February 2022, but because of icy weather we had very few walkers. The club will also be exploring some additional options: Jacob’s Well/Karst Canyon Natural Preserves in Hays Country, and Southeast Metropolitan Pak in Travis County.
Terry briefly described the arrangements for the November 13-15 TVA meeting in Georgetown, to be hosted by CRW. The Texas Psychologists Association is meeting at the same time in a hotel at the Domain. One of their members was interested in advertising AVA and perhaps having a sample walk. But the Domain is far from our current YREs. Carol is working on this opportunity.
Terry proposed adding an Online Start Box for Pflugerville for 2027, because of the uncertain date for the movement of our physical start box from the current Recreation Center to the new Recreation Center. The new Recreation Center, once open, will continue to host the physical start box. Adding an OSB for just one walk gives the club the chance to experiment with this option.
Terry presented Carol with a plaque to honor her thirteen years as the President of the Colorado River Walkers. A picture of Carol with her plaque is shown above. Larry presented flowers to both Carol and Terry to mark their birthdays, and Stephanie brought cookies to celebrate three July birthdays: Carol, Terry, and Greg.
The meeting adjourned at 3:37 pm to enjoy the cookies and talk volkssporting.
Respectfully submitted,
Stephanie Knight
Acting Secretary
