The Colorado River Walkers will having an exploratory walk on the east end of Lady Bird Lake this coming Saturday, May 16th, starting at 9:00 AM.
This is not an official volksmarch, so no payment needed and no stamps in your books.
We will be walking a 5km route that starts at the Krieg ball fields and includes the new Wishbone Bridge and the Unity Tunnel. We will hand out maps of the 5km route, and walkers may walk together or at their own pace. The picture above shows the Unity Tunnel, and the next one shows Jean and Hal B. on the Wishbone Bridge.
Meeting Place:
We will meet in the northernmost parking lot of the Krieg Fields. The Krieg sports fields are just south of the Colorado River and east of S Pleasant Valley Rd. The parking lot is the one closest to the Unity Tunnel, with Krieg baseball field #7 on the other side of the lot.
The address for the Krieg Softball Complex Athletics Office is 515 S Pleasant Valley Rd, Austin, TX 78741. After entering the complex from Pleasant Valley, turn left to go to the parking lot by the Unity Tunnel.

We are doing this exploratory walk in preparation for a POSSIBLE route change of our Lady Bird Johnson YRE (Year Round Event). It currently goes west from the start point at Extended Stay Hotel, but we may want to switch it to head east from the hotel,
We are excited to check out these two new additions to the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail.
