Colorado River Walkers
May 3, 2026, Meeting Minutes
The May 3 meeting of the CRW at the Central Market Café was called to order by Carol O at 3:04 pm. Members present were Carolyn D., Kathy F, Mike F, Larry J, Stephanie K, Carol O, Greg S, Terry S, and Mary Z.
The minutes for April were corrected. Larry moved the acceptance of the treasurers’ report. There was $1702.79 in the checking account. Linda D. could not attend so there was no YRE report.
We had a successful Violet Crown walk with 58 walkers, despite having cold front blow in. Some of the walkers complimented the club on the quality of their walks.
We should plan a Summer Sunrise YRE. Carol proposed that the walk go to the east on Lady Bird Lake, perhaps featuring the new wishbone bridge and the tunnel featuring local art. Austin Parks and Recreation has taken over the former HI building nearby. June 6 is the tentative date for a group exploratory walk.
Terry briefly described the arrangements for the November 13-15 TVA meeting in Georgetown. The Texas Psychologists Association is meeting at the same time in a hotel at the Domain. One of their members was interested in advertising AVA and perhaps having a sample walk. But the Domain is far from our current YREs. Carol is working on this opportunity.
Carol presented the slate of nominees to be officers effective June 1:
- President – Terry Sullivan
- Vice President and Membership Chair – Larry Jacob
- Secretary- Lisa Rogers
- Treasurer- Carolyn Doolittle
- YRE coordinator: Linda Dennis
- Equipment manager: Michael Frew
Greg moved that we elect the slate by acclamation. The vote was unanimous.
Carol also noted the volunteers who are staffing YRE start boxes:
- Georgetown: Jan W.
- Round Rock: Carol O.
- Pflugerville: Terry S.
- Belton and Salado: Amy S. and Jana D.
- Cedar Park walk and bike: Charles R.
The meeting adjourned at 4 pm to enjoy a cake in honor of Carol, who is completing 13 years a CRW President.
Respectfully submitted,
Terry Sullivan
Secretary-Treasurer
