The view of Mueller Lake above was captured by Andy Thomas on our recent walk in the Mueller neighborhood. He posted it on Facebook with many other nice pictures from the walk. Thanks, Andy!
Colorado River Walkers
October 13, 2025 Meeting Minutes
President Carol O. called the October meeting of the Colorado River Walkers to order in the Central Market Cafe at 5:02 pm. Members present: Kathy F., Larry J., Stephanie K., Carol O., Greg S., Terry S., and Mary Z.
The club congratulated Larry Jacob and his wife Nancy on their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
Treasurers report: the checking balance at the beginning of September was $1550. The Mueller Walk was very successful, with 62 adults and 2 children participating.
The YRE Report for September was as follows:
Historical Capital walk 2
Lady Bird Lake 2
Round Rock 3
Salado 1
Belton 4
There were three awards requested. Terry will file the Quarter 3 YRE participation report with AVA.
Daylight saving time ends November 2nd, so our next meeting will be Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, at 3 pm. Note: this is a change from the usual Monday day and time, but it takes advantage of the federal holiday and the daylight.
There will be three days of walks in the Gonzales area November 7-9. Either Carol or Terry will represent our club at the TVA meeting held on November 8.
Carol discussed the AVA publications Checkpoint and TAW. The AVA is planning to develop a walking app that will contain walking directions, at the club’s discretion.
San Antonio has a First Friday walk every month. On October 18 there is a Guided Walk on the West Side in San Antonio.
The exploratory worker’s walk at Hornsby Bend had eight walkers. The walk itself will be Saturday, November 22. The start point is at the Center for Environmental Research, which already has tables and chairs set up. We can mark the trail on Friday, November 21. Dogs will be allowed only if on a leash. Terry will be on the AVA cruise November 22, so Larry will serve as the treasurer for this walk.
We have new volunteer POCs for Belton, Salado, and Georgetown YREs. Carol will contact Deb to see if she has the original directions for the Georgetown YRE and can send them electronically to Carol.
Terry will write to the new walkers who came to the Mueller walk.
The meeting adjourned at 6:05 on Larry’s motion and Greg’s second.
Respectfully submitted,
Terry Sullivan
Secretary-Treasurer
Post-meeting note: Terry plans to staff an Opt Outside Featured YRE the Friday after Thanksgiving at the Pflugerville Recreation Center. More details forthcoming.
