The cheerful garden shed above is at some community gardens in the Mueller neighborhood. We snapped the picture on a walk in preparation for our upcoming “Art and Parks at Mueller” walk on Sep 27th.
Colorado River Walkers
September 8, 2025 Meeting Minutes
The September meeting of the Colorado River Walkers was called to order by President Carol O. at 6:05 p.m. in the North Austin Central Market Café. Members present were Linda D., Larry J., Stephanie K., Carol O., Greg S., Terry S., and Mary Z.
Mary and Larry moved acceptance of the July minutes.
The treasurer reported a decline in the checking account from $1923.73 to 1550.73. This decline was due to unusual expenses in August, including the 2026 sanctions for the YREs and the annual AVA dues. Terry also reported that she had completed the 990 tax form for the club and the annual report for AVA.
Linda reported August YRE numbers as Historic Capital walk—2 walkers; Georgetown—2 walkers. In other YRE news, Carol is going to develop a new route for the Belton YRE. Jana D and Amy S, who live in Temple, will become the points of contact for Belton. Mary L, who lives in Georgetown, will become POC for Georgetown. There was fairly serious river flooding in Georgetown. Kathy reported that parts of the trail near the river are tricky to navigate. Larry will be POC for Salado, where the starting point is the Holiday Inn.
Following up the July discussion of traditional events, the club agreed that the September 27 walk will be “arts and public parks” at Mueller and the November 22 walk will be at Hornsby Bend. Stephanie reported that Onion Creek Country Club cannot accommodate us for a walk there.
The Arts and Public Park workers’ walk will be on Saturday, September 13, at 8:30 am starting at the Salvation Army parking lot, 4700 Manor Rd. The worker sign-up sheet for September 27 volunteers was distributed. Carol distributed the tentative map for the walk and encouraged everyone to walk the trail to provide feedback.
The Big Give, a fundraiser for AVA, is September 17-18. The club voted to send $100 from the club treasury, and Larry and Stephanie each contributed $50 to make a total of $200 contribution from the club.
The meeting adjourned at 7:07 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Terry Sullivan
Secretary-Treasurer
