Meeting Minutes March 2025

We are all enjoying the nicer weather recently, and Colorado River Walkers Taina and Wayne S. did the 11k “Pi Day” walk in Eisenhower Park this month. Taina took this picture of Wayne on the walk. Beautiful!

March 2025 Minutes

Colorado River Walkers

The March 10, 2025, meeting of the Colorado River Walkers was called to order by President Carol O. at 6:05 pm at the Central Market Cafe on North Lamar.

Members present were Linda D., Kathy F., Larry J., Carol O., Greg S., Terry S., and Mary Z. There was one correction to the minutes, and then they were accepted.  The treasurer reported $1875.53 in the checking account, an increase of $254 from the previous month.

There were 7 YRE walkers in February, 4 at Georgetown and 3 at Cedar Park.  At the Easton Park Walk we had only 14 walkers because it was so cold.  For our April 12 traditional walk, we are going to redo the Easton Park Walk as the Easton Park Springtime Walk.  We have permission to use the school for parking.  Registration will also be at the school.  There will be another event that day at Easton, Friends of Nature Market, with various vendors, and it is open to the public.

Carol will be sending a worker’s sign-up sheet by email.

Some clubs have group walks.  San Antonio and Dallas are both doing weekly walks.  Carol issued an offer for anyone in the club to develop such walks. Club members expressed a strong desire for walks that would allow both fast and slow walkers to feel comfortable at their own pace. The traveling stamp might be a possible way to hold some more spontaneous walks.

The TVA convention was in Junction last weekend.  Mike or Kathy Schwenke served as our club proxy.  The next TVA meeting will be in the fall around the Luling-Shiner-Gonzales area.  Palmetto State Park is one likely walk locale. TVA has voted to suspend charging the clubs the $10 annual dues because TVA has such a large bank balance.

The upcoming convention in New Mexico has some lovely walks planned.  Terry will be our delegate.  Pre-walks are April 26th through the 28.  Terry will be taking a basket of Texas or Austin themed items to represent our club at the silent auction. If anyone in the club wants to contribute items to the basket (reimbursable), please bring them to the Easton Park Walk or to the April meeting.

Stephanie has two canopies that belong to the club and would like to have another club member take them for storage. If interested, please let Carol know.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Terry Sullivan

Secretary-Treasurer
