The San Antonio Pathfinders walking club will be hosting group walks of some of their Year Round Event (YRE) walks in the coming months. These walks will be on Wednesdays, with a specified meeting place and time. You can walk on your own, or with others who are doing the walk. Please see the full schedule for March and April at the end of this post.
This coming Wednesday they will be walking the South Texas Medical Center Walk (YRE 0149). The picture above of Mike and Kathy S. was taken on this walk in 2021. They are standing by the beautiful Wings of Hope sculpture.
On Wednesday, Feb 26th, club members will be at the Jim Reed Trailhead, 2889 Babcock Rd. (park in the lot off Hamilton-Wolf Rd) at 9:00 AM. They will be there at the parking lot for about 30 to 45 minutes to collect the $4.00 fee, hand out maps and directions, and stamp books.
The South Texas Medical Center Walk has been converted to online registration only, meaning that there is no physical walk box located in a nearby business. However, for this walk on Feb 26th, Martin Callahan will bring the physical walk box to this event.
Also, because Martin is bringing the physical walk box, there are two other YRE walks that walkers could register for at the same time. Those walks have also been converted to online registration only. They are:
- Maury Maverick Jr. Library Walk (YRE 0263)
- Leon Creek Greenway – Mainland Walk (YRE 2960)
Walkers could pay the fees and get their books stamped, and then do the other two walks later. This makes it convenient to be able to do the walks without having to access the online system.
