The AVA – Southwest Region (REG-SW) is facilitating a walk in San Antonio on Saturday, September 7th, in conjunction with the World Heritage Festival.
The festival is an annual event celebrating the San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The picture of the Mission San Jose church above was taken on this walk in September of 2021.
Walk Start Point and Time
The walk Start/Finish is at the Mission County Park Pavilion located at 6030 Padre Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214. The event starts at 7:00 AM. In addition to the walk, there is a bike ride and a run on that same day.

Walk Routes
Participants will enjoy a 5K or 10K walk through the scenic San Antonio River Walk. The 5K route goes by Mission San Jose, travels along part of the Mission Reach segment of the San Antonio River Walk, and goes through Hot Wells Park. It is primarily on pavement and is rated 1A.
The 10K route follows the same route as the 5K, with the addition of a stretch along the Acequia Trail of the Mission Reach, which is packed dirt and gravel. This makes it difficult for strollers or wheelchairs, so it is rated 1B.

Registration
Participants who register for the event by August 21st are guaranteed a commemorative bib, finisher’s medal, collectible T-shirt, goodie bag, and keepsake passport to the San Antonio Missions. Also, there will be music and complementary food and beverages after the event for all registered participants.
Registration for the walk will still be available through September 6th, up to 11:59 PM CDT, but there is no guarantee of the event t-shirt, bag, or commemorative collateral for those who register after August 21st.

Walk Fees
The fee for the walk is $40.00 for adults 18 and older, and $20.00 for youth 13 to 17. It is free for youth 12 and under. There are no refunds. There is a Military Discount of $5.00 off the registration fee (Promo Code MILITARY).
