We are pleased to share some pictures from our “East Austin: Art, Culture & Trails” walk. Our club hosted this walk on November 18, 2023.
Martin Callahan attended the walk and took the picture above of (left to right) Hal and Jean B., and Mary Z. They are standing in front of the Victor R. Garza Community Center, which was the start point for the walk.
Colorado River Walker Deb Peak also shared some pictures from the walk. The next three photos were taken by her. First is portion of the Bolm Road Mural Project.
Next is a view of one of the bridges that spans Boggy Creek.
Last is an interesting view of some cacti along the walk route.
The remaining pictures in this post were taken by Martin Callahan. First are a few pictures from the Start/Finish.
Below are, left to right, Terry S., Stephanie K., and Larry J. working the registration table.
In the picture below, Carol O. is stamping books for Doug E. at the Finish table.
The next picture shows Martin C. with Winston (left) and Frank E. with Dolly in front of a mosaic that is outside the start point. It is on the grounds of Southwest Key and pays tribute to our veterans.
Below are Doug E. with Winston and Frank E. with Dolly by a mural in Govalle Neighborhood Park.
Next is Carolyn D., who was working the checkpoint.
Below are two more sections of the Bolm Road Mural Project.
Doug E. is in the first one, reminding us that we all need to plant seeds of kindness!
Frank and Doug are taking a break in the next picture. What a colorful mural!
The last picture shows, left to right, Greg S., Doug E., and Frank E. with Dolly on a stretch of the trail that goes by some railroad tracks. Greg was our sweeper for the walk.
Thank you to all of our walkers, workers and photographers who made it a great event!
