The Hill Country Volkssportverein club will be hosting their Halloween walk in Waring this coming weekend. It will be a 2-day event, both on Saturday, October 28th, and on Sunday, the 29th.
The walk start point is Waring Hall, located at 11 Waring Road, Waring, TX 78074. Walkers may start the walk between 8:00 and 11:00 am each day.
It’s always nice to get out in nature during this time of year, and even better to get out into the Hill Country, away from the city. This is a beautiful walk on dirt roads and paths, with views of the Guadalupe River. The picture of the river above was taken on this walk in October of 2021 by Martin Callahan, and the next two were taken by Charley Watt, Jr. at the Waring walk in October of 2022. He sent us a selfie with the Guadalupe River behind him and one of the river by itself. Beautiful!
This is always a fun event, with delicious concessions available both days. The Lane Valley Community Center will be serving breakfast, burgers and baked goods at the walk start point, and the Waring VFD will have their very popular fish fry lunch next door on Sunday.
Since it is a Halloween walk, some folks get into the spirit! The next two pictures were taken by Martin at the walk in 2021, on the day of the Fish Fry. Below is Tina Bohnert AKA “Cruella De Vil” enjoying her fried fish lunch.
Next are two volunteers serving lunch at the Fish Fry.
Please see the walk brochure below for all the details.
We hope that you can make it out to Waring this weekend!
