The Colorado River Walkers will be hosting a new walk in East Austin on Saturday, November 18th. It is our “East Austin: Art, Culture & Trails” walk, and there is a lot to see!
The Start/Finish is at the Victor Garza Community Center, which is located in the Southwest Key Programs complex at 6002 Jain Lane, Austin, TX 78721. The mural above is on the grounds of Southwest Key.
The walk consists of two 5km loops. The loop that heads east goes to Urban Roots East Austin Farm, pictured below.
The west loop goes through Govalle Neighborhood Park, which is where the next two pictures were taken. The first shows a sculpture near the swimming pool.
This picture is of the playground at the park.
The west loop also goes by a small sculpture park on Springdale Road. Below is a view of that park.
Both loops include the Southern Walnut Creek Trail, a hike and bike trail that goes along Boggy Creek.
