Guerrero Park and Montopolis Bridge Walk on Mar 4th

The Colorado River Walkers club is pleased to be hosting a new walk at the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park in Austin on Saturday, March 4th.

The walk Start/Finish will be at the Roy G. Guerrero Pavilion in the park, which is located at 400 Grove Blvd, Austin TX 78741. Walkers may start the walk between 8:00 and 11:00 am, and they must be finished by 2:00 pm. The picture above shows part of a huge playscape that is next to the pavilion.

There is a lot to see on this walk. Below is a sculpture in the park. It is named “Reach for Your Dreams,” and it was created by Ambray Gonzales.

In addition to walking on trails in forested areas in the park, walkers will be trekking across the historic Montopolis Bridge and through a bit of the surrounding neighborhood. Click here to learn about the history of Montopolis. We have a great shot of the bridge from the walk route below.

The walk also goes through the Circle Acres Nature Preserve. This is an educational and ecological site that is run by Ecology Action and is right next to the park. The picture below shows one of the educational signs in Circle Acres.

Sure enough, we were able to identify some mushrooms that we saw along the walk route below. Can you tell what they are?

For all the details on this walk, please see the brochure below.

We hope you’ll be able to join us!
