Pictures from the Johnson City Walk on Dec 3rd

Martin Callahan shared some pictures with us from the Johnson City “Lights Spectacular” walk that was held on December 3rd, 2022. It was hosted by the Volkssportverein Friedrichsburg walking club.

In the photo above, Colorado River Walker Doug E. (on the left, with Rudy) and Frank E. are standing by some historic buildings at the Johnson Settlement. The settlement is part of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.

Below, Sandra R. (left) and Sheri L. are signing up for the walk on the left. Seated are Kathy S. and Dave R., who are working the Start/Finish table.

Colorado River Walker Greg S. is getting ready to start the walk below.

Next is Colorado River Walker Stephanie K. on the walk with Rudy.

Below, Martin C. is standing with Rudy by some pictures of the Johnson family on display at the Johnson Settlement.

Next are Sheri L. (left) and Linda G. on the trail.

Another group on the trail are shown below. They are (left to right) John (with Rudy) and Tina B., Doug E., Gayle W. and Frank E.

The checkpoint on this walk is always popular because of the great snacks and because it is inside a building! It is a welcome treat on chilly days. The next four pictures are from the checkpoint. First is Jill T. by a snack table.

Below, Kathy S. (left) and Siba S. are by the Christmas Cactus decorated with volkssport medals.

Next are Martin and Rudy by the cactus.

And, of course, the adorable Charlie Brown Christmas tree!

The last two pictures were taken in the evening when the lights had come on for the Christmas “Lights Spectacular” display. First is the Blanco County Courthouse, covered in lights.

The last picture shows the beautiful trees on the grounds of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Martin!
