Bandera Walks on Saturday, May 28th

We have some great walking opportunities this coming Saturday, May 28th, in the Hill Country town of Bandera, Texas.

The Hill Country Volkssportsverein club will be featuring their “Cowboy Capital of the World” Year Round Event in the town of Bandera. This is an interesting town, full of history and natural beauty with the Medina River and Hill Country landscape.

The start point for this walk is the Bandera County Convention & Visitors Bureau, located at 126 TX-16, Bandera, TX 78003.  The Visitors Bureau is housed in a rock building with a red roof and sits back from the street with parking in the front.

The walk in Bandera is the primary walk, but if walkers want to do a second walk nearby on the same day, the Hill Country Natural Area walk is also being featured.  The HCNA is around 10 miles southwest of the town of Bandera.  The start point is the Hill Country State Natural Area headquarters building, located at 10600 Bandera Creek Rd, Bandera, TX 78003.

The Volkssportverein Friedrichsburg walking club is featuring this walk, and David Roberts will be at the headquarters building from 8:00 am until Noon to help walkers register. There is a $6/person entrance fee unless you have a Texas State Park Pass.

The walk routes in the HCNA are rated 2C to 5E and are on hiking trails through “tranquil creek bottoms, rugged canyons, and scenic plateaus.” The temperature is scheduled to reach over 90 degrees, so walkers should dress accordingly and walk as early as possible. Water will be available if needed.
