The Volkssportverein Friedrichsburg walking club will be hosting a walk in Llano this coming Saturday, March 12th. This is an annual event that is held in conjunction with the Llano Earth Art Festival (LEAF, for short) in March each year. Last year, the festival was cancelled due to COVID-19; however, this year we are happy to say that the festival is back!
Registration for the walk is from 9:00 am until Noon. The start point is the Llano County Historical Museum at 310 Bessemer Ave, Llano, TX 78643.
Please see the brochure below for all the details.
This will be a wonderful event. The festival takes place at Grenwelge Park on the banks of the Llano River, and it can be viewed from the walk route. LEAF includes art installations along the river made from natural materials, but it is much more! There are rock stacking contests, food, music, workshops, children’s activities and vendors.
On the Saturday of our walk, the festival opens at 10:00 am. Admission to the festival is $25.00 for people 18 and older. You may enter the festival grounds without charge if you arrive before 10:00, but you must leave before they start charging admission at 10:00.
Stephanie Knight took the picture above at the walk last year, showing the bridge over the Llano River, and also this next picture taken from the bridge while crossing the river. LEAF was cancelled that year, but there were remnants of rock art along the river bank.

The next two pictures were provided by Carol Obianwu. The first was taken at the Llano walk in 2019, and shows an artist at work.

This last picture shows the crowd at LEAF in 2018.

We hope that you will be able to come out to Llano and enjoy this great walk through a historic Hill Country town, and help us to welcome back LEAF!
