We enjoyed the walk at Canyon of the Eagles Resort near Burnet, Texas, this past weekend. The walk was held on Saturday, November 13th, and it was followed by a meeting of the Texas Volkssport Association (TVA).

A few of us walked the 6 km route on Friday, Nov 12th, in preparation for the actual event the following day. Most of these pictures are from that walk.

Above is a view of Lake Buchanan from the resort, which sits on a hill and has great views. Below is a picture of the restaurant at the resort.

Next is Nelli A. on the walk route with the lake behind her.

The trails were well marked with wooden sign posts. Even the “non-trails” were marked.

Below are Stephanie K. (left) and Carol C. on the trail.

As we approached the Start/Finish area, we walked close to the shore of the lake.

Below is the shady area where we decided to set up the Start/Finish. We referred to the stone slab tables and benches as “Flintstones tables,” and we later found out that this area is actually called Bedrock Park.

Next to Bedrock Park is a nice labyrinth and a boat dock.

At the TVA meeting, our Colorado River Walkers club president, Carol Obianwu, was presented with an award honoring our club’s 40th anniversary. The picture below shows Carol O. (left) with Helen Hull, our Southwest Regional Director.

Finally, one last picture of the beautiful lake, as seen from the resort.
