Waring Walks on Oct 30th and 31st

The Hill Country Volkssportsverein walking club will be hosting two beautiful walks in Waring this coming weekend.

The walk brochure gives an inviting description of both of them:

The Orange Welfare Cafe Trail (119052-2021) – 11km/5km register at Waring Hall and drive to the Welfare CafĂ©. The walk begins here and follows Old No. 9 a short distance to a well maintained caliche county road. Most of the route parallels the scenic Little Joshua Creek along the county road until intersecting the route of the Old Spanish Trail. Following the paved FM289 a short distance into Joshua Springs Park to the restrooms. From here you will retrace your footsteps to your car.

The Green Zoeller Lane Trail (119051-2021) – 10Km/5km departs Waring out a scenic country lane paralleling the Guadalupe River. A slight jog off the main trail leads to a checkpoint where the 5K walkers will return to Waring Hall. 10K walkers will return to the lane and continue along the river walking beside huge pecan trees. Departing the lane the trail parallels the river through pastureland before rejoining the lane and returning to the start point. The trail is rated 1A. Strollers ok but wheelchairs with difficulty.

Walkers may start the walks between 8:00 and 11:00 am on either day (Saturday and/or Sunday) and must finish by 2:00 pm.

There will be food available for purchase at the start/finish, and the Waring Volunteer Fire Department will have their very popular Fish Fry at Noon on Sunday.

We hope you’ll come on out and join us!
