OLD BUSINESS:

1. The Violet Crown via Dick Nichols Park walk held 9/25/2021 was a success despite having to share the park with a myriad of O. Henry Middle School runners.  There were 84 participants with $16 in donations. More volunteers to staff the walk would have been beneficial.

2. The Opt Out walk to be held the Friday after Thanksgiving, 11/26/2021, was discussed. Since the walk in past years used the Georgetown YRE, Fairview, Belton, or Salado YREs are suggested for this year.  AVA will advertise walk information on their website to promote the walk.   Anyone interested in taking charge of this walk, please let Carol O. know.

3. The TVA meeting will be held at the Canyon of the Eagles near Burnet on 11/13/2021. Stephanie K. is coordinating with David R. for CRW’s participation in the event.  Deb Peak will be responsible for the pre-walk in Georgetown on 11/12/2021; Mary Zeitler will be responsible the post walk in Round Rock on 11/14/2021. David R, TVA President, has completed and distributed flyers for all events.  He has also completed directions for the 6km and 11km walks.  A sign-up sheet was passed around for those who wish to volunteer to staff the walk. A worker’s walk is scheduled for Wed., 11/03/2021. Details will be sent via e-mail. A generous donor will provide breakfast or lunch for the volunteers. The entrance fee for the Canyon of the Eagles has been waived for all participants. Volunteers will provide tables and chairs for the start/finish and the checkpoint. Carol O. will purchase cupcakes for distribution at the start/finish point in celebration of CRWs founding 40 years ago, (1981).

4. Carol O. continues to pursue the possibility of an AVA stamp that CRW could use for exploratory walks for identifying new CRW walking routes. Guided group walks are currently authorized; however these walks have to be posted on the website 90 days in advance. Therefore short planning times and spontaneity are prevented.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.

Respectfully, submitted,

Mary Z., Secretary
