Pictures from Lady Bird Lake Walk on Aug 28th

Martin Callahan from San Antonio walked our Summer Sunrise walk at Lady Bird Lake on August 28th, and he sent these pictures.

The photo above shows Charles and Mary in back, and Rosie in front, on the boardwalk along Lady Bird Lake. Below are Martin (left, with Rudy) and Frank on the boardwalk. The downtown Austin skyline is in the background in both pictures.

The sculpture in the next photo is one of several on the Trail of Tejano Legends.  It is dedicated to Roy Montelongo (1938-2001), a popular and successful artist who played in several bands.  He formed his own band in 1964, toured extensively and recorded many hits.

The next two photos show some murals that were along the trail. The first one was painted by artist Fidencio Duran with the assistance of M. Park, C. Burkle, and F. Valle. The second one was on the walk route just before crossing the I-35 bridge.

Ignacio “Nash” Hernandez, Sr. is another artist who is honored on Trail of Tejano Legends. A sculpture of him is below, and a plaque with a brief biography of his life is shown below the sculpture.

There were quite a few people out on the lake enjoying the water.

The next picture shows a canoe rental place along the trail.

Below are Frank (left) and Doug with Rudy about to cross a small bridge on the walk.

Back at the Start/Finish are, left to right, Doug, Stephanie, Carol and Frank.

Below is a photo of Martin and Rudy at the Start/Finish.

Thanks, Martin, for sharing the pictures!
