Southside Lions Park YRE on Nov 27th

Southside Lions Park YRE on Nov 27th

The Randolph Roadrunners walking club in San Antonio will be hosting their Southside Lions Park YRE on Friday, November 27th, as part of the “OptOutside” initiative.

The #OptOutside movement was started by REI in 2015 to encourage people to go outdoors on Black Friday instead of shopping.  Many Volkssport clubs around the country participate by hosting a walk on the day after Thanksgiving to encourage people to get outside and get moving!

So, if you are feeling overly stuffed this Friday, you can also join in the OptOutside movement by walking in a volksmarch.

Randolph Roadrunners club members will be manning the start point for this walk in the park from 8:00 am to Noon.  They will have a sign-in sheet and the stamp at the location.

The start point is at Pavilion 2 in the park. The address is 4000 Pecan Drive, San Antonio, TX 78210. There are 2 routes, 6k and 10k, and both are rated 1A.

Below is the walk description from their website (Southside Lions tab in on the far right):

Enjoy a 1.6km stroll around a lovely lake. Then take the shaded path past Comanche and Coventry Parks. Open daily, 5am to 11pm. This is part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System gradually circling San Antonio. The trail continues north to Jack White Park.
