OLD BUSINESS:
1. The walk event at Moya Park originally scheduled for 5/24/2020 has been rescheduled for 9/26/2020. Stephanie K., who is Point of Contact for the walk, stated that the pavilion rented for the May date was cancelled by the Park; future reservations are on hold. Bathrooms are open and there are many picnic tables that could be used instead of the pavilion. The routes have been established. The walk will take place unless otherwise directed by AVA in light of Covid-19.
2. In the past, TVA held a meeting each Aug. and now it will be held in Nov. This year, the business for the Nov. meeting (11/14) will be handled by e-mail. The issues are: approval of the last meeting minutes, approval of the budget, and the selection of the site for the next meeting in March. Walks traditionally held in conjunction with the meeting will still take place. CRW was asked to be the walk host. CRW’s existing YREs will be featured on 11/13 and 11/15 and a traditional walk event in Georgetown will be held on 11/14. A flyer will be developed to advertise the event.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. The Big Give, the AVA annual fund raiser, is ongoing. More donors are needed because of income decrease due to Covid-19. On 9/10/2020, individual and groups are being asked for a $10 donation to aid in meeting AVA’s goal. For specific directions, please refer to the AVA website.
2. The Check Point, a book listing all the YREs in the USA, will soon be published. The price is $25.00. One ordered through CRW is a few dollars less expensive. If you would like one, please contact Carol O. Books can also be ordered through AVA or obtained at a walk where the event sponsor may have them for sale.
3. AVA is sponsoring informational meetings via Zoom each month. The one held in July focused on the two new and ongoing Special Programs; it was very informative. The new programs for 2021 are the Great Lakes and Veterans Memorials. CRW is in the process of renewing its 10 YREs and will include the new programs, if available.
Carol O. will send an e-mail to members regarding the date and topic for the next Zoom meeting.
MILESTONES:
- Nelli A. – 75 events
- Larry J. – 250 events
- Doug E. – 1100, 1150, 1200 events
- Dour E. – 10,000 kilometers.
Respectively submitted,
Mary Z., Secretary
