Carol Obianwu will be leading an informal “Exploratory Walk” in Round Rock at Old Settlers Park on Saturday, July 25th.
Old Settlers Park is a very large park (645 acres) and has multiple sports fields, a nice trail system, and areas for folks to picnic and relax. The park also has a beautiful lake that is stocked for fishing and has a fishing pier. For more information about the park, click here.
The address for Old Settlers Park is 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd. (or Route 79). When you turn off of 79, you will see Salt Lick and Dell Diamond baseball stadium on your right. We plan to park at the far end of the parking lot for Dell Diamond, since we can access the trail from there. The map below shows the walk start point by the parking lot.

Carol will start the walk at 7:30 a.m. SHARP and walk about 5k, but you can take a longer walk on some of the other trails if you wish. Below is a map of the route that Carol hopes to walk on Saturday. You can also access this map here using the Footpath Route Planner app.

This is not a sanctioned AVA walk, so there will be no registration, stamping of books, or payment of the usual $3.00 fee.
Just an FYI – The weather forecast for Saturday seems very changeable with rain sometime that day. Perhaps put an umbrella in your car. Even so, it’s always good to get out and explore new hiking trails, regardless of the weather!
Also, bring water and a mask, and restrooms should be open about 1k into the walk.
We hope you can come!
