There are a number of places in Austin that make this city so unique, and this wall is one of them. The picture above was taken last fall on the Fairview Park YRE route in south Austin. It was on the side of a house, an invitation for passersby to finish the sentence: Before I die I want to …

Are you wondering what is on that wall now, though? Well, next Saturday, July 11th, Carol O. will be leading an informal group walk of our CRW Fairview Park YRE, so we may be able to see the current version and even add to it.
Let me give you a big heads up, though! The start point for Carol’s Saturday walk will be the Big Stacy Pool parking lot, 700 East Live Oak Street, in Austin. (Map below.) Carol will have the registration materials and stamp with her at Big Stacy Pool, so there is no need to go to the usual start point at Extended Stay America.

Carol is only planning on walking a portion of this walk (about 5k), staying on shaded neighborhood streets and paths. She won’t be walking on the long open sidewalks along Riverside Drive and Congress Avenue, but others are welcome to walk the entire 10k if they want to do so. The restroom at Little Stacy Park about halfway into the walk should be open. We’ll start walking at 7:30 AM sharp due to the warm weather, so please arrive early enough to register, pay the $3.00 fee, get the directions/map, stamp your books, and be ready to start walking by 7:30. Also, you need to bring a mask and wear it.
Your second walking opportunity this coming Saturday is on the north side of San Antonio. The Randolph Roadrunners will be hosting a Summer Sunrise event at Comanche Lookout Park in San Antonio. It looks like a great walk with an early start time to beat the heat. Please see this link for all the details.
We hope you’ll be able to come out and enjoy one of these two walks!
