The Colorado River Walkers club is planning an informal group walk for this coming Saturday, July 4th. We’ll be walking our Cedar Park YRE, along the Brushy Creek Regional Trail, and we’ll be starting at 7:30 AM to beat the heat!
The photo above was taken on a group walk of the Cedar Park YRE in August of 2016. Doug, Mary, Charles and Carol are on the trail by a small waterfall.
Doug Eide will be leading the walk and is our point of contact for the Saturday walk. He has been reworking the route to incorporate some loops, so it won’t be an out and back walk on the same stretch of trail. Doug will be leading us on the first loop on Saturday, starting from the Twin Lakes YWCA at 204 E. Little Elm Trail in Cedar Park, zip code 78613. For directions and a map, please see our page about this Year Round Event.
The YWCA will be closed on July 4th, but Doug will have the walk box with him. Please arrive early enough to register, pay the $3.00 fee and stamp your books so that you will be ready to start the walk at 7:30 sharp. There is a restroom at the start point that will be open on Saturday morning. Also, please bring your mask and wear it.
To get to the meeting point, drive towards the buildings at the YWCA, turn left and park at the far end of the large parking lot, near a pavilion and the restrooms.
If you have never walked this trail, you are in for a treat! Bring a friend. It should be in shade most of the way, but bring water due to the hot weather.
