The Texas Wanderers in San Antonio are featuring their Brook Hollow Neighborhood YRE this Saturday morning, June 27. Click here for the AVA-Southwest writeup on this walk. It has all the details that you need to go and enjoy this event.
For those of you in Austin who cannot travel that far, Carol Obianwu will be walking our Colorado River Walkers Pflugerville YRE on Saturday morning, and she’s welcoming others to join her. The picture above was taken on the trail of the Pflugerville YRE in December of 2019. The weather should be pretty nice this Saturday, so we don’t expect to be so bundled up!
Carol said that the usual start point for this walk, the Pflugerville Rec Center, is closed due to the virus, but she was able to get the walk box from the Rec Center and has it in her car. Instead of starting at the Rec Center, Carol plans to start from the corner of West Pecan Street (route 1825} and North Railroad Ave.
This intersection has a Shell gas station and Rincon restaurant. There is enough parking available, and restrooms may be available at the gas station. Please see the map below with the corner marked in red.
Carol will start the walk at 7:30 AM sharp due to the warm weather, so please arrive early enough to register, pay the $3.00 fee, get the directions/map, stamp your books, and be ready to start walking by 7:30. Also, you need to bring a mask and wear it.
